The Plan:
June 15: Fly to Paris. Arrive a day after leaving. Spend two days in the city. See the Codex Hammurabi. Speak French. Stay with friend of a friend.
June 18: Train out of Paris. Head into the countryside. Look for the Chasm of Chaos. Sleep in the grass. Make way East and South. Stare at Alps. Go to Marseille. Buy passage to Tunisia by ship.
~June 24: Arrive in Tunis. Investigate school and neighborhoods. Investigate apartment situation. Take train south – try to get over mountains in the middle of the country as fast as possible. Spend time in Sahara. Look at Berber ruins. Buy a
Bousa (Berber desert-cloak). Think about Star Wars, a lot. Rent a camel. Visit roman ruins. Sleep in desert. Move east, try to go to Jerba. Check out Kharajite sites if able to get there. Return to Tunis. Figure out apartment situation.
July 1: School orientation. Begin intensive study of Arabic. Class every morning until 1pm. Visit Carthaginian sites and the Barca museum. Speak more Arabic. Check out the European vacation nightlife. Play soccer. Study more.
~July 30: Buy ferry ticket to France. Leave Tunis for London, through France and the Chunnel. Move as fast as physically possible to make connection.
August 2: Fly from London to New York. Deal with any problems Columbia is causing me. Return to upstate to rest and visit family…..
